One day moves in 2026
Independence Day falls on Saturday 4 July, and 5 U.S.C. 6103 puts the observance on the Friday before, 3 July. It is the only one of the eleven federal holidays to shift anywhere in the year, and the sheet marks both days.
The rest sit where the statute leaves them. New Year’s Day is a Thursday. Juneteenth National Independence Day on 19 June and Christmas Day on 25 December both fall on a Friday. Five are Monday holidays by rule: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on 19 January, Washington’s Birthday on 16 February, Memorial Day on 25 May, Labor Day on 7 September and Columbus Day on 12 October. Veterans Day is a Wednesday, 11 November, and Thanksgiving Day is Thursday 26 November.
Three months carry no federal holiday: March, April and August. A federal day can also be added or moved by proclamation, and this sheet carries the statutory pattern rather than any such announcement. It is the national list, computed from the statute, and not a statement of what a particular workplace closes for.
Printing it
The PDF carries a real page box, so A4 comes out at 210 × 297 mm and Letter at 8.5 × 11 inches. Print at 100% rather than fit to page and the sheet is the size it says. A5 and A3 are on the paper list as well, in portrait or landscape.
The marking is black rather than coloured. Most sheets are printed in mono, and a mark that exists only in colour is one most readers never see. A twelve-month sheet marks the days without naming them — twelve months of names will not fit — so switch to a single month if you want the names printed under the grid.
Turning the marks off
The country control switches the holidays off, or over to South Africa. Those two are what the site carries, because each has a statute with a written weekend rule the sheet can compute. Other countries are absent for the opposite reason.
