The year that does not end where it began

2028 is a leap year of 366 days, with February carrying a 29th. The extra day tells on the shape of the sheet as much as on the count. A common year runs one day past fifty-two weeks and finishes on the weekday it opened with; a leap year runs two days past, so 2028 begins on a Saturday and ends on a Sunday.

January, April, July and December each need a sixth row of weeks when Sunday leads the grid: one six-row month in every quarter of the year. That is more of them than either of the other years on this site, and it is the plainest illustration of why every panel here is drawn six rows deep whether its month needs the space or not: a panel sized to its own month would leave the twelve at four different heights. Choosing a Monday start rearranges the list. On a Monday start they are January, July and October — three months instead of four, with January and July on both lists.

The ISO week count is 52. The year’s single Friday on a thirteenth falls in October.

Printing it

Portrait paper stands the twelve panels three across and four down; turned, they run four across and three down. A3 measures 297 × 420 mm, exactly twice the area of A4, and is the better choice if the sheet is going up on a wall to be read from a few feet away.

Print at 100%. The PDF carries a real page box, so the sheet arrives at the size named on it. Fit to page hands that decision to the printer driver, and the driver will not hand it back.
