A short month with a long weekend count

A thirty-day month with nine weekend days is unusual, and November 2026 is the only one in the year. April, June and September each have eight. November takes the extra because it opens on a Sunday and closes on a Monday, catching a weekend day at one end and, on the other, a Monday that leaves the weekend behind it.

Opening on a Sunday also costs a row on one grid and not the other. A Monday-start sheet needs six rows, since the 1st lands in the last cell of the top row. A Sunday-start sheet needs five, because the 1st then takes the first cell and the month runs on from there.

Twenty-one working days is the lightest count of any thirty-day month in 2026. Sundays and Mondays each fall five times, and the month runs from ISO week 44 to ISO week 49.

Printing it

If you print the Monday-start version, the sixth row takes its depth out of the same page, so the boxes come out shallower than the Sunday-start sheet gives you. That is the trade, and it is worth making on purpose rather than by accident.

Print at 100% rather than fit-to-page. The PDF carries a real page box: 210 × 297 mm on A4, 8.5 × 11 inches on Letter, measured on the paper.
