A flush left edge
May 2028 begins on a Monday. On a Monday-start grid that means no leading blanks at all: the first of the month takes the first box of the first row, and the sheet fills from the top-left corner without a run-up.
On a Sunday-start grid it opens one column in, with a single empty box ahead of it. Either way the month takes five rows, so the choice of grid here is about where the blanks sit rather than how tall the sheet is.
The month closes on a Wednesday, part-way along the last row. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each come round five times. Eight days fall at the weekend, which leaves 23 weekdays, and the sheet runs from ISO week 18 to week 22.
A flush start is worth a moment’s thought if you are printing several months and want them to look like a set. This one begins where the grid begins, and there is no partial first row to allow for.
Printing it
Print at 100%. The PDF holds a page box at the size named on it — A4 is 210 × 297 mm, Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches — and at true size a ruler laid on the paper agrees with the file. Fit to page will not break anything, but it makes the sheet smaller than it says it is, and the box depth goes with it.
