A quarter that turns mid-row
April 2027 opens the second quarter but it does not open a new week. Its first day falls inside week 13, the same number that closes March, so the quarter turns over halfway along a row rather than at the edge of one. Anyone filing by week rather than by month will find the two months sharing a line.
Thursday and Friday each fall five times; no other weekday does. That is the whole of April’s asymmetry, and it sits at the far end of the week rather than anywhere near the start of it. The month runs out in week 17.
Five rows hold the month on either week start, with 22 working days against 8 weekend days — the commonest arrangement in this year’s run, and the least trouble to print.
Printing it
The PDF carries a page box at 210 × 297 mm for A4 or 8.5 × 11 inches for Letter. Fit to page quietly rescales that box, which is how a sheet ends up a few millimetres short of the paper it was drawn for; 100% is the setting that keeps the two in agreement.
If the sheet is going up larger than a desk page, take the SVG instead. It holds the same drawing as lines rather than as pixels, so it can be enlarged to a wall size without the rules going soft at the edges.
