Two week starts, two shapes
January 2027 begins on a Friday and ends on a Sunday, and those two facts pull the grid in opposite directions. Set the week to start on Sunday and the month needs six rows; set it to start on Monday and it settles into five. The choice is worth making before the sheet goes to the printer, because six rows divide the same height of paper between more lines and the boxes come out shallower.
Five Sundays, five Fridays and five Saturdays fall inside the month. That is what carries the weekend total to 10 and leaves 21 working days out of 31 — a thin month for anyone counting weekdays, and a generous one for anyone counting the other kind.
This sheet is set a long way ahead of the year it covers. It is computed from the calendar rules rather than copied from a chart that already exists, which is why a January this far out can be printed at all. The month opens inside week 53 and closes in week 4, so anyone numbering weeks will find it straddling two counts. That week 53 is 2026’s, not 2027’s: an ISO week takes the year of its own Thursday, and this one’s falls in December. The numbering only becomes 2027’s at week 1.
Printing it
The PDF carries a real page box, so an A4 sheet measures 210 × 297 mm and a Letter sheet 8.5 × 11 inches when it reaches the tray. Print at 100% rather than fit to page: fitting shrinks the drawing by a few millimetres in each direction, and the margins stop being the margins the sheet was drawn with.
